This is a must read.
The Bible, Holy Grail,
The Zen of motorcycle articles
An article by

Hi Gang,

This is a SPECIAL EDITION Editorial and also this is going to be another double issue Newsletter for September and October.
There is just too many things going on and I do not have the time.

Special edition EDITORIAL "When you think you have problems"

WHY have I been so quite lately?

So a funny thing happened on the way to the forum(s).
RKA (Richard & Kathy) decided to take a week off the first week of September to go to Bend, Oregon and ride bicycles with our longtime friends Bill & Pam.

BUT first ..... After getting the opportunity from Mike Corbin in July to design and manufacture liner bags for his new Polaris Slingshot Fleetliner Saddlebags. I had the opportunity to drive the Slingshot up to our shop for a week of knocking heads together to do the design work. Awesome project!!! Here are some links to check out:
Corbin’s Slingshot bags ... Corbin’s webpage for RKA’s Slingshot liners ... RKA’s Slingshot liners page.
Here are a few photos:

Before Corbin After Corbin Before Corbin After Corbin Before RKA After RKA

So I went down Saturday August 22nd and picked it up a week before our trip to Bend. What an attention getter! I drove it back August 29th the next Saturday in the cover of morning darkness as not to get so many “Gawkers”.

ALSO after riding/driving it (it’s a car! No matter what they say) Slingshot owners will HAVE TO HAVE the Corbin saddlebags and then of course the RKA liners. Also SENA Bluetooth headsets to talk to each other as the noise is LOUD! The radio is also Bluetooth compatible.

But a couple of days before that, things started to come undone, on Thursday the 27th my trusty Samsung lap top died! I ran to Office depot and purchased a new DELL i5 Core and started reloading software and files. And most of all the Outlook contacts.

First we left for Moms house in Redding on Sunday the 30th to see her for a couple of days before getting on to Bend. The new computer is acting up!

We head on to Bend Tuesday and get to Bill & Pam’s house. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday we ride bicycles Two 35 plus mile tandem
rides and a 25 mile solo bike ride. Saturday we ride in the car and tour Bend and of course find BEER and bicycle jerseys.

WOW Light load Rest stop BEER BEER BEER

On Wednesday afternoon and an hour on the phone with Dell, they declare my brand new compute dead!

So I call Office Depot and I have another new computer waiting on arrival back in Windsor.
On return to Windsor I ran to Office Depot and pick up the replacement DELL i5 Core and started reloading software and files. And most of all the RKA Outlook contacts.

After getting back to work we discover we are already backordered on the Slingshot saddlebag liners and have at this point only put together the first prototype set, and Mike has sold $200,000.00 worth of the Fleetwood hard bags already!

We hope all those folks will purchase liners for them!

Then the router crashes in the office,
Then the networked QuickBooks data base crashes.
So Thursday the 10th we purchase the 2015 edition of QuickBooks for a KZillon dollars. And have trouble setting it up with the networking in the building.

Then spend 14 hours on the phone with QuickBooks on Monday September 14th and 6 hours on the 15th.

Then the NEW router crashes. Another call to AT&T!

I now have new computer and almost everything loaded back and almost ready to interact with you all.

Sometimes when you think you have issues and problems things just jump up and bang you upside the head!

All you have read so far seemed like the end of the world for us. In the real world it is all trivial compared to what is going on just east of us in Lake County.

The house we lived in and ran our business out of in the beginning, 30 some years ago on Cobb Mountain is gone today! Burnt to the ground along with hundreds of others! Some of our friends lost the homes they have lived in for decades and we have more friends in jeopardy!!

Kathy and I are so emotionally divided from being happy we did not purchase that house to being heartbroken for the friends and folks that are there now. Some had miracles happen most did not.

Our Windsor retired fire chief came by today and just got back from delivering fresh fireman to the fires. He has been a fireman all his life and said… “I have never seen anything like this! "It’s like a war zone”.

So remember things can always be worse

Here is a collage of some of the havoc going on and some newspaper photos.
