May 3rd "2014 RKA / Sonoma Raceway Wine Country Ride"
Things you need to know
This could be the MOST challenging ride you have ever gone on! Bring your cameras, bring a passenger, and bring your friends! The ride will circle through, Marin and Sonoma countys and we will plan on arriving back at the track by 3:00 or 3:30 PM so you can watch the main event!
The riders meeting is mandatory at 8:15 AM and you will want to pay attention as there are more than a few things to keep on your radar to make this ride safe and fun for all.
If you do not pay attention we will guarantee you will miss a turn. If you miss a turn tuff luck but if you miss a turn and take 20 riders with you that would not be a good thing.
RKA and Sonoma Raceway want you to leave a great impression on the public that sees us out on this ride. So we want safe and sane riding. No exhibition of speed, wheelies or stoppies. This is NOT A RACE but a leisurely ride through the country side of Marin and Sonoma Countys. Hold that thought.
You must have a road ready motorcycle which means among other things good or new tires, oil checked and full of fuel at the start.
Proper riding gear
There will be “escorts” riding along on this ride they will be introduced at the start of the ride. If you have any issue at all please contact one of these riders for help or to let them know you will be leaving the the ride and or stopping. We do not want to lose someone.
if you have FRS radio communication RKA will be using channel 7, subchannel 7 for it's communications

where we are going
There usually has to be bad to get to good so the beginning of the ride is not only boring but a little challenging for a large group. We will head west on Hwy 37, then south on 101 and ride up Third Street to Center Blvd.
(REGROUP in the parking lot at 720 Center Blvd)
This stop is important so we can all start out climbing Bolinas Rd together.
Then a short few blocks to left on Bolinas Rd.
Now the fun begins with the up and down roller coaster ride to Alpine Lake where we will stop at the dam for a photo op.
(Photo op at Alpine Dam)
There is very limited parking so we will have to be very discreet here.
Leaving the damn the road gets even tighter and there are uphill hairpin turns that you better be ready for!
Once to the top of Bolinas road your will make a left onto Ridgecrest road. (PAY attention here)
Once on Ridgecrest the view is stunning, but you have not seen nothing yet!
We will turn on to Pan Toll road and stop at the turn out/Viewing area and another photo op.
(Photo op at Pan Toll viewing area).
Then down to Panoramic Hwy and right to to Hwy 1.
This stop sign is evil for one rider much less a large group! look at the photo!
The photo does not reflect how the road drops of at the stop sign BE CAREFUL.
Hwy 1 north to Marshall Rd, to right Hicks Valley Rd, to right on Petaluma Pt Reyes Rd, left on Nicasio Rd to Rancho Nicasio and lunch.
Pulled pork sando
All with potato salad and slaw, watermellon, brownies, soda and water
$25 all inclusive
Please RSVP for the ride and lunch ASAP.
This will help the reastaurant a lot!
(Photo ops for sure. Parking will be an issue here also so be careful try to park with friends
head to tail and don’t block others)
After lunch we will head toward Highway 101 via Lucas Valley Rd. North on Hwy 101, East on Hwy 37 and back to GATE ONE for the drawings and chat, photo sharing and some motorcycle camaraderie.
We will try to post a ride map you can down load to your GPS device.Kathy and I are looking for a large turnout for this ride.
